Born in 1921 in Copenhagen. Studied graphic art at the Royal Art Academy while teaching at school. Active in a wide range of areas besides picture books such as producing TV programs and designing posters and chinaware. Winner of many awards i.e.) International Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1972, and Graphic Industry Award in Denmark in 1976. Main works include "Thumbelina", "The Little Mermaid", "The Snow Queen" (Fukuinkan Shoten), and the "Autobiography of Hans Christian Andersen - Watashi no Chiisana Monogatari" (Asunaroshobou). Resides in outskirts of Copenhagen, Denmark.
