Born in Tokyo, 1945. Graduated from ID department, Kuwazawa Design Institute. Has published over 300 books to this day, and his readers range from babies to grown-ups, with many overseas fans. Has been awarded many awards both domestic and international such as the Sankei Jido Shuppan Bunka Award, Bologna Children's Book Fair Award and others. Besides being an author of children's books, Mr. Gomi is well-known in various areas, e.g. Stationery design, clothing design, production of young children's animated videos, CD-ROMs, essayist etc.
